N97235 in Wichita

Well, I bought a plane.

My name is Lee. I have been staring at this Stinson in the back of my friends hangar for 7 years. I finally was able to reach a deal and moved it into my T hangar. It’s a project, but it seems to be fairly well taken care of. There are some things that were done outside of regulations that need to be brought back to legal. As well, a new interior. But I think it’s a good start.

So far, I have stripped the interior. Either a few mice or one very large mouse made this it’s home. But the dirty part it over and it’s time to get to the fun part. I need to replace all the rubber fuel lines and clean the tanks. They were drained several years ago. I haven’t looked inside yet. Hoping for the best I guess. I will also rebuild and clean the fuel selector and strainer. I am looking for someone to rebuild the carb. Any suggestions?

It’s a 1946 108 with a F150. I haven’t picked up the logs yet. So I don’t know much about time on the plane or engine. But It “ran when parked.” Oh boy.

Looking forward to getting this back in the air.

Hello; Good luck on your new project. I have a few suggestions; check the horizontal stabilizer for corrosion, the mice in the headliner may
have migrated to other areas of the plane. I hesitate to open my big mouth, if you have Stinson experience, if not buy the club's maintenance
CD, plus FAA AC 43.13, for a start. Once again good luck, hide the checkbook from your wife, and enjoy.
